| The Golden Buddha |
I visited three famous temples today - there are nearly 600 in Bangkok alone. This temple is home to the Golden Buddha. It is made of pure gold and weighs 5.5 tons and is more than 700 years old! It was covered in plaster to conceal it from Burmese enemies. When it was moved in 1955 the plaster was broken and it was discovered to be solid gold.
