We traveled to Uluru (the aboriginal name now used throughout the country - formerly called Ayres Rock) by bus through the outback. Beautiful scenery and stops at roadhouses along the way. At Mt. Ebenezer we stopped at a roadhouse and met Dinky the singing dingo. He is a star on YouTube and a question in Trivial Pursuit. Dingos are a wild dog that can attack and eat cattle and kangaroos.We visited Kata Tjutu (also known as the Olgas) and Uluru at sunset. It has been cold - in the 50 degree range - with hats, gloves, and coats definitely needed! You can see why it is called the red center. Uluru can appear blue, purple, or red depending on the light.
